In recent years, upscale car manufacturers such as Mercedes Benz and Aston Martin have been taking a crack at taking their knowledge of sophistication and design and applying it to the building of luxury motor yachts. Now, one of these firms, Aston Martin, is taking it to the next level with a waterfront luxury development project in Miami.
The iconic UK based luxury carmaker, recently announced a new partnership that will bring its world renowned elegance, exclusivity and design sensibility to luxury homes, at the Aston Martin Residences on Biscayne Bay in downtown Miami.
The project, now in its earliest design phases, is slated to open in 2012. Aston Martin is working in partnership with global property developer G&G Business Developments. It is among the first steps of a new initiative started by the legendary car maker, known as the “Art of Living by Aston Martin,” which takes customers beyond sports cars, and allows them to “immerse themselves in the Aston Martin lifestyle.”
Miami Appealing to Yacht Owners
The plot of land housing the future development is located next to the Epic Hotel, and was purchased by Argentina’s Coto family for $125 million two years ago.
The Residences will feature 66 floors of luxury apartments and penthouses, each offering panoramic views of Biscayne Bay and the Miami area. Speaking with Superyacht Times, Katia Bassi, Managing Director of Aston Martin Brands, said, “This remarkable new venture realizes our long-term vision of entering the world of luxury real estate, and is a natural extension of the Aston Martin brand. We create beautiful cars for those who appreciate automotive fine art, and we are excited to extend our expertise in design and craftsmanship into a project of this caliber.”
Of course, being another addition to Miami’s growing upscale waterfront on Biscayne Bay, The Aston Martin Residences will feature an exclusive marina with ocean access for condo owners.
Luxury waterfront living is not the carmaker’s first foray into the yachting lifestyle. At September’s Monaco Yacht Show, Aston Martin unveiled a 37-foot powerboat called the AM37.
