At a recent event held at the Garde Arts Center by the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut and the Southeastern Connecticut Cultural Coalition, the designs were presented for the new US Coast Guard (USCG) Museum that is planned to be built in New London, Connecticut.

“Today marks the most important progress to date since the idea for a National Coast Guard Museum was first conceived,” National Coast Guard Museum Association president and CEO Richard Grahn said in a statement to the press. “There is extraordinary commitment to build the world-class museum that the Coast Guard and the nation deserve, and we are pleased to be able to show the public just how much progress we have made in the past several months.”

A World Class Waterfront Museum

The stunning and unique architectural designs call for a world-class museum that takes advantage of the unique opportunities of the waterfront location, as well as pays fitting tribute to the brave men and women of the USCG.

Three different design proposals were presented, as pictured here.

The final design will be determined through an extensive environmental review and public comment process. With the extensive pre-design work now completed, the USCG, state and local officials, and the design firm involved believe construction may begin as early as the summer of 2018, with a scheduled opening in 2021.

The Vital Role of the US Coast Guard

At Florida Yacht Management, we recognize the vital role the men and women of the US Coast Guard play in making your yachting experience a safe and enjoyable one. From issuing important safety alerts, to responding to each and every emergency call, the USCG lives up to its motto – Semper Paratus, “always ready,” each and every day!

We also realize that as a responsible yacht owner, you should not rely on the intervention of the Coast Guard or anyone else, and should do all you can to be as prepared as possible for any emergency at sea.

That is where our On Demand Yachting solution can provide peace of mind. When it comes to making sure you and all of your guests are as safe as possible, having the right safety gear on board is only part of the equation. In the unlikely event it is ever needed, you must also ensure that the gear is ready and operational. That means PFDs need to be checked and replaced, fire extinguishers maintained and recharged as necessary, first aid kits restocked, etc.

Maintaining your yachts safety gear at operational readiness is just one of the services you can count on from our On Demand Yachting Solution.
