As you know, part of the ability to maximize your charter income, relies on your knowledge of the best charter destinations, and the best charter experiences.
Florida is known as one of the best Scuba diving locations in the US. But, you do not have to be a trained or certified Scuba diver to experience the amazing marine flora and fauna of the sunshine state.
Sometimes all it takes is a snorkel, swim fins, a dive mask, and a thirst for adventure!
From the keys to the mangroves of the West Coast, to wrecks right off the coast of Ft. Lauderdale beach, Florida offers some of the most unique snorkeling adventures you are likely to find anywhere.
What is the best way for anyone to experience these wonderful snorkeling opportunities in Florida? From the deck of their own private yacht charter, of course!
And, the best part is, as the owner of the yacht, you really do not have to worry about providing expensive scuba equipment, trained instructors, or passengers with dive certifications as you would for a “dive boat,” to offer snorkeling charters!
Snorkeling in the Keys
The Keys and Key West are great charter destinations known for their snorkeling opportunities. Snorkeling opportunities in the Keys abound, and they begin where the Keys do, in Key Largo’s John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. There you can see a world famous underwater statue, the Christ of the Abyss, while frolicking amongst hundreds of species of tropical fish, lobsters and the many other residents of the coral reef. All along the Keys, snorkeling opportunities abound, culminating in the living reefs of Key West. Sand Key is one of the most popular snorkeling reefs off of Key West. This islet, marked by a large iron lighthouse, delights both snorkelers and scuba divers with an abundance and variety of coral and marine life. With over ten miles of coral reefs of varying depths, Sand Key offers visitors endless opportunities to enjoy snorkeling that rivals any island of the Caribbean.
About 70 miles off of Key West, no trouble by charter yacht, you will find the Dry Tortugas National Park. The 100-square mile park is mostly open water with seven small islands. Accessible only by boat or seaplane, the park is known the world over as the home of magnificent Fort Jefferson, picturesque blue waters, superlative coral reefs abundant marine life, and the vast assortment of tropical birds that frequent the area.
Miami and Ft. Lauderdale Snorkel Charters
You do not have to charter a yacht all the way to the Keys to have a snorkel adventure. Not far from Miami you can enjoy a Keys style snorkeling experience in Biscayne National Park. A favorite spot is Bache Shoal, part of the barrier reef off Elliott Key. Some 200 species of fish, along with brain and star coral, make Biscayne National Park their home.
Did you know that there is an amazing wreck, reachable with only snorkel gear right off of Ft. Lauderdale beach, and you can enjoy it as part of our exclusive snorkeling charter experience. The S.S. Copenhagen, is located just off Lauderdale-by-the-Sea beach. Shipwrecked in 1900, this 325’ cargo steamer is both a fascinating archeological wonder and a vibrant artificial reef, home to a spectacular amount of marine life. The Copenhagen appears on the distinguished US Registry of Historic Places.
